Winner winner!

I won! And I won again! It must be my lucky, um, week(s). Last week I entered a few podcaster/blogger giveaways during the  Black Friday Sew In, even though I was not actually able to sew that day, because of feeling so horrible.
I won one of the gorgeous Art Quilt books from Jaye of ArtQuiltmaker.com.

I am thoroughly enjoying this book. I am amazed at how creative and detailed these quilts are. Thanks so much Jaye! (And to her hubby for matching me up with this book.)

The other prize was from Debbie at a Quilter's Table for participating in the Tuesday at the Table link up in November. You should go check it out, because there are some really great things in that link up. Donuts, Cookies, Soup, quilty things and much more.
I won a stack of fat quarters of Joel Dewberry's Notting Hill in the colorway of my choice generously provided by Jennifer of Knotted Thread.  Here is a link to her shop, Where you can get some too!  I picked the poppy colorway.

Normally I would have jumped right on the Magenta. Those colors are so me! But I decided to expand my horizons and went with the Poppy. I already have a plan in mind for them. :) I have never had a chance to use any of Joel Dewberry's fabrics and I am super excited!
Thanks so much Debbie!

Such a cute baby shower!

Emily at Piccadilly Peddlers hosted one of the cutest baby showers I have seen in a long time. The theme was books and it was really well done.
Here is a sample:

You have to see the rest of what she did. So very clever! Here is her post.

Have a great day!

New kids book on the horizon!

I found out via one of my fav kids authors, Frank L Cole,(see his post here: http://franklewiscole.blogspot.com/2011/08/huber-hill-and-dead-mans-treasure.html ) that there is a fun new book for youth coming out in October. You can pre-order the book, and donations will be made to a young lady with some major medical bills to deal with.
Go to http://www.facebook.com/bkbostickauthorpage and like the author and check out the info on the new book.

Tasty Tuesday: Sadie's Better Brownies

I am a sucker for a good brownie and a sucker for a fun mystery novel as well. I found both when I read Lemon Tart: A Culinary Mystery by Josi S. Kilpack.

There are lots of wonderful sounding recipes in this book, (and you can get them all by going HERE , then by clicking where it says "Download recipes here"), but as I said, I am sucker for brownies, so I tried Sadie's Better Brownies first.

The flavor was good and chocolaty, but they are quite rich. I also needed to bake them longer. I just did the 35 minute as per the minimum time listed, but they were still very uncooked in places.
I liked that I didn't need cocoa for these. I buy my chocolate chips in bulk(ish) because I love to make cookies. Cocoa is harder to find in larger sizes. So when the recipe I had planned to make called for 1 1/3 cups of cocoa and I only had about 1/2 cup, I decided to move on.

On a scale of 1 -10, 10 being best, these are a 6. I need to make them again, baking them longer to see how they come out.

I hate to say it, but I still like boxed Betty Crocker better.

Go HERE to get the recipe. (I don't want to mess with any copyright stuff posting the actual recipe here.)

Oh yeah, the book was a fun, light read. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars on my Goodreads list. I'll probably read more of her books for fun.
